Greens say changes to the Western Distributor would ‘destroy’ the west

Residents are expected to ‘take to the streets’ to protest against proposed changes to a $5.5 billion toll road that they say would destroy the inner-west.

Transurban has released new details of the Western Distributor proposal, which includes opting for above-ground ramps.

Local Greens MP Colleen Hartland said the updated plans would create a ‘spaghetti ghetto’ on Stony Creek Park.

She told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings people were worried about the changes and the government and Transurban should front up to a public meeting.

‘One of the main problems is the government is not clear about what’s actually happening,’ Ms Hartland said.

‘For years people in the west copped everything, we are not doing that anymore. This is one I don’t believe people will cop.’
