State Greens MP Dr Tim Read says Labor has backflipped on their original plan to phase out gas in Victoria and wonders whether they’re too worried about what other political parties think.

It emerged on Monday that the Allan government was making alterations to its net zero road map, which will now allow gas to still be used in kitchens.

Dr Read told Heidi Murphy he was concerned the state government was believing “fossil fuel industry propaganda”.

“What we’ve got here is a backflip,” he said on 3AW.

“And I’m worried that (Labor) is afraid of fossil fuel industry propaganda and they’re concerned with what the Liberal party thinks.”
