CBD businesses are urging the government to do away with the work from home recommendation and mask requirements in the office, saying it is crippling the city.

Leading epidemiologists are saying no changes to COVID-19 rules should be made in Victoria in the next fortnight.

But Danni Hunter, Victorian executive director of the Property Council, told Neil Mitchell review was needed when it came to office requirements.

She conceded easing those rules would see more COVID-19 cases.

“There will certainly be cases in office settings, just like there will be in school settings and retail and hospitality settings,” Ms Hunter pointed out.

“It’s about how you manage and mitigate that risk.

“We are in a very highly vaccinated environment now.”

She said while people could currently head into work if they wanted, wearing a mask while at work was “certainly a handbrake” in people wanting to.
