Todd Goldstein was awarded the maximum 10 Coaches’ Award votes for his dominant display against Melbourne on Sunday.

But it wasn’t in the way we’ve come to expect.

The Kangaroo ruckman equalled his career-best five goals in the win in Hobart.

With 208cm Melbourne monster Max Gawn winning the bulk of the hit-outs, Goldstein told Sports Today he had to find another way to influence the match.

‘I haven’t been a massive goal-kicker over my career, so that’s another string I’ve been trying to put in my bow,’ Goldstein said.

He said North’s experience in Hobart helped them adapt to the extreme wind conditions better than Melbourne.
