‘Giving him away’: Matthew Lloyd saddened by Jake Stringer situation

Jake Stringer’s imminent exit from Essendon is a “sad state of affairs”, according to Matthew Lloyd.

Stringer is expected to land at the Giants before Wednesday night’s trade deadline, ending a seven-year stint at the club.

Speaking on 3AW Football’s trade podcast, Lloyd lamented the series of events which essentially sees the Bombers “pretty much giving him away” as trade deadline approaches.

“It’s a sad state of affairs for Jake (Stringer),” Lloyd said.

“What he did at the Bulldogs, amazing talent and top five draft pick, comes to the Bombers and kicks 42 goals this season yet he sees himself in this position.

“Essendon is pretty much giving him away.”
