Georgie Purcell claims duck hunting ban ‘only one step away’ following inquiry
An inquiry into duck hunting has recommended it be banned, with a report being tabled in state parliament today, urging the state government to end recreational native bird hunting on private and public land from next year.
It recommends game reserves, currently set aside for duck shooting be used for outdoor recreation, with an investment in camping and boating infrastructure.
Animal Justice Party MP Georgie Purcell says Victoria has been an outlier for decades, and is only “one step away” from the ban.
