Geelong nurse saves toddler with heroic QLD pool act
A Geelong nurse has been hailed as a hero after saving the life of toddler while holidaying in Queensland.
Penne Batters was at a public pool on the outskirts of Brisbane with her two daughters earlier this week when a woman came running out of the pool with her little boy, screaming for help.
“We ran over and it was pretty clear that he was in a lot of trouble. He was all floppy, he had blue lips, not breathing,” Ms Batters told Neil Mitchell.
“I just straight away got into action and just started some CPR.”
NEIL MITCHELL: “When you saw him, though, was he dead?”
PENNE BATTERS: “Yeah, yep, he definitely was.”
Thankfully, Penne’s efforts were successful.
“He started to cry … he was moving all of his limbs,” she said.
“I’m hopeful that he has made a really good recovery and he’ll be ok. Ambulance seemed to think he was ok.”
