Geelong CEO Brian Cook says he’s not a fan of mega contracts in the AFL
Geelong chief Brian Cook says he wouldn’t offer GWS young gun Josh Kelly a nine-year deal.
North Melbourne has reportedly tabled a $9 million offer for the Giants’ midfielder.
St Kilda has also been linked with the young midfielder.
Speaking on 3AW Football, Cook said he’d be unlikely to offer any player a contract more than five seasons long.
‘I think five years is probably the limit, personally,’ he said.
‘Particularly if you’ve got to pay them out.
‘I just feel I don’t have the right to put the club at that sort of risk.’
