Former Middle East ambassador shares his take on the Israel-Hamas war and the potential of an invasion

A former Australian ambassador to Jordan, Egypt, and Syria claims a worsening humanitarian catastrophe is inevitable regarding the Israel-Hamas war.

Bob Bowker says there is speculation Israel could invade the Gaza Strip after two weeks of conflict.

“We don’t want to face a huge loss of civilian life, and damage, and so on, and we wind up with a situation we had before this situation began,” he told Neil Mitchell.

He also says the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim to eliminate all of Hamas is not a realistic political objective.
