Former Brisbane Lions player Albert Proud jailed for assault on girlfriend
Former AFL player Albert Proud has been sentenced to 5.5 years’ jail for assaulting his girlfriend.
Proud pleaded guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm after he seriously injured his partner after drinking heavily at a wedding.
He’s been in custody since January.
After an attempted murder charge was dropped due to a lack of evidence, Proud pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of grievous bodily harm and wilful damage.
