Former ASADA enforcement director provides insight into Joel Smith’s positive drug test

A former Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) enforcement director has revealed why it took two months for Melbourne player, Joel Smith’s drug test to come back and why he was tested for cocaine.

Sport integrity research lead and associate professor of sport management at the University of Canberra and former group director, enforcement at ASADA, Catherine Ordway says coming back positive for any drug on a competition makes the breach more serious.

“It’s the reason why cocaine is picked up at all actually,” she told Tom Elliott.
