Flood rebuilds will go on for ‘years to come’ says former Rochester mayor

One year after floodwaters swept through Rochester, residents say there is still progress to be made as homes are slowly rebuilt.

Former Mayor and chair of the Rochester Recovery Committee, Leigh Wilson, says over 50% of homes still need repair, and while residents recover, the Victorian government must keep funding coming in.

“They’re doing a lot of things, but we need more. We need continuity of funding for the programs that are helping people on the ground so much …,” he said.
