A fisherman who works in Port Phillip says it’s a “miracle” four teenage paddleboarders managed to seek shelter at Swan Island.

The teens, aged 18 and 19, went missing from Rosebud on Monday night.

Director of Gone Fishing Charters, Chris Vasilevski, says they could easily have been swept out of the heads.

“It’s a long way to sort of drift along, obviously they wouldn’t have had much control with the easterly winds we’ve been having,” Mr Vasilevski told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.

“When we get those easterly winds and we have the ebb tide which I think was around 1am last night … that’s when the water starts rushing out through the heads, they could have easily got sucked through and ended up through the heads as well.

“It’s a credit to the young fellas, they must have had their wits about them.”
