Figures show Australians gamble more than anybody else in the world
Australia’s ‘obsession’ with gambling has been blamed on accessibility.
The release of new figures showed Australians lost on average $1279 in 2014 alone – more than anywhere else on earth.
THE FIGURES
- Australia – $1279
- Singapore – $1243
- USA – $705
- NZ – $602
- UK – $527
While the figures have been labelled misleading by the CEO of Victoria’s Responsible Gambling Foundation, Serge Sardo did admit they were of concern.
‘What’s alarming about that figure is you have a small concentration of people losing a lot of money,’ Mr Sardo said on 3AW Drive.
