Cranbourne residents fear it won’t be long until somebody is seriously injured or even killed by falling objects from the sky, objects that are being dropped by drones.

Geoff Davey and Mark Stephens both spoke with Neil Mitchell about the truly troubling developments on Tuesday.

Mr Davey said somebody walking a dog past his house on February 10 knocked on Mr Stephen’s door to tell him they’d seen an object from a drone dropped over their homes.

He had a quick look around the backyard but didn’t find any cause for concern, neither did his neighbour.

It wasn’t until recent rain saw massive water damage emerge in his roof.

It prompted Mr Davey to inspect the roof of his property, where he found a hole in the tiles and water balloon with metal lock inside.

He suspects the balloon had frozen water in it when it was dropped from above.

“I’ve had grandchildren playing in the backyard,” a concerned Mr Davey said.

And Mr Stephen’s situation next door is even more cause for concern.

He had a padlock dropped on his house.

“I actually heard the drone whizzing about overhead,” he said.

“I ran out to have a look and a padlock came hurtling down and went straight through the roof of my laser light pergola and made a big dent when it impacted on the merbau decking underneath.

“It definitely would have killed me.

“It left a pretty good dent in the decking.”
