Father of viral Australian Open mascot calls into 3AW!

The father of viral Australian Open mascot John Jones says he’s been blown away by how he and his family were treated by one of the best tennis players in the world.
John, who’s bubbly personality and enthusiasm tossing the coin on court made global headlines, was taken under the wing by Carlos Alcaraz after he appeared on-court before a match on Rod Laver Arena.
Andy Jones rung into 3AW Drive and couldn’t hide his excitement about the experience given to his son at Melbourne Park.

“He had a fantastic time and everyone was amazing with him,” he told Jacqui Felgate.
“(Carlos) Alcaraz’s manager took us all on a journey…he was treated like a little brother.”
