‘Farcical’ state of Southern Cross station called out
The current state of one of the city’s biggest train hubs has been called out as the Department of Transport and Planning calls for feedback on the station.
Southern Cross station is a major terminus for V/Line regional services and the SkyBus link to Melbourne Airport, but is currently “cold” and “inhospitable” according to 3AW Drive host Shane McInnes.

“At the moment though, it resembles a dirty, cold, inhospitable shed where trains arrive and depart and that’s it,” he said on 3AW Drive.
“Many shops are closed down or boarded up, replaced by cheap vending machines. For Southern Cross Station to be a first impression (for tourists) is farcical.”
