Exiled former Liberal MP Tim Smith says the party doesn’t stand a chance of governing unless it dumps its cult “has-been” leaders.

It comes as the latest RedBridge poll shows the Victorian Coalition is an election-winning position for the first time since July 2017, but Mr Smith thinks the likes of Denis Napthine, Ted Baillieu and Jeff Kennett are having too much influence on the party.

“It’s the same old characters saying the same old stuff, and they’ll end up with the same results,” Mr Smith Told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.
