The minister for energy and resources Lily D’Ambrosio says Victoria has a “healthy reserve” of power with the state set to experience a “low-intensity” heatwave this weekend.

She says Victoria is in a stronger position this year to deal with increased demand on the power supply.

“For the whole of that summer period, they’ve got enough reserve in place even when they’re needed,” she told 3AW Drive.

She also addressed news Victoria had been snubbed by Rugby World Cup officials.

“It’s just speculation,” she said.
