One home destroyed as fires burn in Gippsland

A property has been destroyed by a bushfire in Briagolong.

A watch and act notice is still in place for Briagolong, Cobbannah, Glenaladale and Moornapa, with residents put on standby to evacuate if necessary.

Victoria got its first glimpse of the coming bushfire season over the weekend, with evacuation alerts issued for three fires in Gippsland.

Emergency warnings were also active yesterday for fires near Loch Sport and Rawson, but those warnings have been downgraded to advice messages.

Firefighters will continue blacking out and building containment lines for several days.

Rain is forecast this week but it’s expected to be a temporary reprieve.
