Elderly woman bashed, robbed after home invasion in Morwell

A woman aged in her 80s is in hospital with serious injuries after a home invasion in Morwell this morning.

The offender was covered from head to toe wearing a balaclava as well as a mask over his eyes.

He broke into the Princes Drive home in Morwell via the glass backdoor around 6.30am.

He demanded she hand over cash and attacked her before she told him her handbag was downstairs.

The 83-year-old woman has been taken to the La Trobe Regional Hospital with serious facial injuries and a suspected broken nose.

She is in a stable condition.
