Eddie McGuire’s mail on Essendon’s massive war chest as they target Harley Reid

Eddie McGuire thinks Essendon has a multi-million dollar war chest to target a player of Harley Reid’s calibre.

The West Coast Eagles gun midfielder is out of contract at the end of 2026, with speculation mounting that clubs in Victoria are already trying to lure him away from the Eagles at the end of this season.

Speaking on the Eddie and Jimmy podcast, McGuire said the Bombers had the salary cap space and draft currency to explore a deal.

“Someone’s going to have to pay a lot to get him out of there,” he said.

“Essendon have $2.5 million in their salary cap sitting there.”
