Eddie McGuire has responded to suggestions he’s “too woke” and he’s after Neil Mitchell’s job.

A Herald Sun article published on Wednesday claims McGuire “has his eyes on” the 3AW Mornings host’s seat.

But McGuire denies that’s the case.

“I’m just calling the footy on Monday … that’s it!,” he told Tom Elliott.

McGuire also responded to a number of comments on the article labelling him “woke”, and “more suited for the ABC”.

Eddie McGuire will step behind the microphone on 3AW on Monday, calling the Geelong vs Hawthorn clash alongside Tony Shaw, Matthew Richardson, Caroline Wilson, Bruce Eva and Abbie McKay. Listen to the pre-game coverage from midday on your radio, at 3AW.com.au or via the 3AW app.

McGuire is also co-host of the Eddie and Jimmy podcast — listen HERE.
