A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was felt from Boronia to Sunshine with 3AW newsreader David Armstrong saying he felt it in Collins Street.

Chief commercial officer at the Seismology Research Centre, Adam Pascale, told Neil Mitchell the epicentre was in Ferntree Gully.

“It was about 10 kilometres deep which is pretty typical for earthquakes in our region,” Mr Pascale said.
