Dwayne Russell reveals one father’s fear ahead of draft night

Dwayne Russell has made an explosive revelation on the first night of the draft.

Dwayne said the father of a highly-regarded draft prospect told him he doesn’t want his son to be drafted to the Suns.

“I asked him where he thinks he’ll go, he said ‘anywhere but the Gold Coast’,” Dwayne said on Sportsday.

“For a father to actually say that, it’s an interesting scenario we’re in.”

Matthew Lloyd said if he was drafted by the Suns, he would sign the minimum two-year deal.

But Gerard Healy said Melbourne showed things can turn around after being in a similar situation.

“Now it’s a club that kids and older blokes want to get to,” he said.
