Dwayne Russell pays tribute to Paul Couch as Geelong says farewell
Geelong will come to a standstill today, as the city farewells Paul Couch.
The former Geelong star, 51, died of a heart attack while cycling with friends at Apollo Bay on March 5.
A memorial service will be held at Kardinia Park from 2.10pm.
Former teammate Dwayne Russell said Couch loved his team and the game, especially the road trips.
‘He was like a 15 year-old kid on the way to Disneyland on the way to games,’ the Sports Today host said.
‘And he was like a 15-year-old kid with a stomach full of fairy floss and red cordial on the way home from Disneyland when the beers came out on the way home.
‘That bus trip was compulsory, so nobody missed it.
‘It was like a little footy trip.’
