Drive-by shooting laws under consideration: Sly of the Underworld
The Victorian government is considering introducing new laws to target the shooting of a building.
Following a spate of drive-by shootings in Melbourne, Sly of the Underworld says the government is investigating law reform.
In New South Wales, the shooting of a building is a specific offence that can be punished with up to 16 years jailtime.
Sly said Victoria may follow.
‘I’m confident that they are at least being looked at,’ he told Ross and John.
The veteran crime reporter also encouraged Victoria to ban the scrap metal for cash business, after heartless thieves stole bronze war memorial plaques in Footscray.
