Drew Petrie says Lindsay Thomas was a victim of ‘trial by media’

Drew Petrie’s suggestion that a ‘trial by media’ contributed to teammate Lindsay Thomas being suspended has been shot down on Sports Today.

The popular North Melbourne forward said on Tuesday that Thomas had been treated unfairly following his high hit on Lachie Hunter.

He copped a one-game suspension.

But Caroline Wilson, Gerard Healy, Dwayne Russell and Sam McClure all agreed that Petrie had missed the mark.

They said Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli put it on the agenda when he labelled the hit malicious, not members of the media.

‘I really like Drew, but that is absolute bunkum,’ Caroline Wilson said on 3AW.
