Does chivalry have a place in our modern society?
Should men still hold doors open for women?
Or is that a pass? tradition that is irrelevant in 2016?
Tom Elliott was brought up to treat women specially, such as walking on the road-side to protect them from splashes from cars.
But Victorian youth governor Amanda Gailiss said it ‘frustrates’ her when, for example, people only let women exit a lift first.
‘If you’re just going to target one gender, maybe don’t do it,’ she said.
Ms Gailiss said chivalry towards women is ‘dying’, but is being replaced by respect on a more general level.
