Do you know what this is? Unusual critter spotted on the Mornington Peninsula

A 3AW Mornings listener spotted this unusual critter on the Mornington Peninsula over the weekend.

It’s since been identified by an expert as Doratifera oxleyi – a caterpillar of the painted cup moth.

Dr Andrew Walker is a molecular entomologist at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at The University of Queensland, expert in venomous insects.
