3AW host Shane McInnes was left shocked after hearing Andrew Dillon’s comments on the state of umpiring in the competition.

The AFL CEO told a press conference on Tuesday that umpiring is “as good as it’s ever been”, defending the league’s lack of publicly clarity after several controversial decisions in Geelong’s win over Essendon on Saturday night.

“Andrew Dillon is either not watching the game he’s paid handsomely to oversee, or he’s trying to craft some PR narrative around umpiring which no fans are going to buy,” Shane McInnes said on 3AW Drive.

“To say umpiring is as good as it’s ever been only diminishes the faith fans have in the leadership at AFL House.”
