Details emerge over multi-car smash that brought Monash to a standstill

New details have emerged from the 10-vehicle pile up that brought the Monash Freeway to a crawl for several hours overnight.

A truck is believed to have clipped another truck while travelling towards the city, sparking the multi-vehicle pile-up.

Seven cars and three trucks were involved in the smash at Chadstone.

It took several hours to clear the scene, causing major delays.

All lanes have since been reopened.

Ambulance Victoria says eight people were injured in the smash, with three requiring hospital treatment.
