David Schwarz’s big problem with the current AFL drugs policy
Melbourne great David Schwarz says the culture of lying built into the AFL’s current illicit drugs policy doesn’t actually help players in the long run.
The AFL’s policy has been in the spotlight this week after it was revealed in parliament that doctors are allegedly helping players dodge positive tests under the league’s three strike system.
Schwarz said the “lying and deceptive behaviour” wasn’t a good look for the competition.

“The problem I have with the AFL system is clubs are condoning lying and deceptive behaviour,” he told 3AW Mornings.
“That is so non-conductive to recovery (from drug addiction).”
