Cyclist in intensive care after cowardly Brighton hit-run
A man has been left with horrific injuries after a cowardly hit-run in Brighton.
Kevin was cycling along St Kilda Street at the intersection of Chatsworth Avenue just after 6am on Saturday when he was struck by a car.
Another cyclist later found the 69-year-old lying in a gutter.
He’s in intensive care at The Alfred Hospital with bleeding on the brain, two broken eye sockets, a broken shoulder blade, a broken neck and two breaks in his back.
The victim’s father, Gavan Hall, says the last thing his dad remembers is doing a U-turn in Port Melbourne.
“He does a ride every Saturday with a group of guys. He sort of tries to get in a few extra kilometres so he rode up to Port Melbourne and back down to Brighton where he meets them,” Mr Hall told Neil Mitchell.
“He was cleaned up by someone in a vehicle obviously that left the scene and he was found unconscious in the gutter by another cyclist.”
Anyone with information is urged to come forward to police.
