Criticism of controversial interview prompts email to 3AW from Andrew Bolt
The president of Liberty Victoria has called Sky News Australia into question over its decision to interview far-right extremist Blair Cottrell, prompting a swift response from Andrew Bolt.
3AW Mornings regular Jessie Taylor criticised Sky’s decision to have Cottrell on-air in an interview the network has since apologised for and deleted from social media.
Sky News management has also suspended the Adam Giles Show, the program Cottrell appeared on, and will “review” the show’s future.
“He was really being handed an opportunity to be divisive and hateful on a platter,” Ms Taylor said.
That led to Bolt, who appears on both Sky and 3AW, to send an email to 3AW Mornings.
“Tony, did your guest complain when Blair appeared on Neil’s show, Channel 7, Channel 9 and the ABC?” Bolt wrote.
“Sky made a mistake, we apologised for it, and the show has been suspended.
“Some of the outrage against Sky seems driven by an agenda.
“We’re being held to higher standards by people of the Left.”
However, Ms Taylor said there was a key difference when Cottrell appeared on the Neil Mitchell program.
“There was a sense of calling him account for his behaviour, rather than just giving him a platform,” she said.
“I think that’s the difference.”
