Cricket great Shane Warne among those recognised with Queen’s Birthday Honours
People from all walks of life are being recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Almost 1000 Australians are being honoured for their commitment to service, excellence and selflessness.
Cricket great Shane Warne has been posthumously appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia, for his service to cricket, being a role model and his charity work.
Former teammate Greg Matthews said Warne would have been chuffed with the honour.
92 Australians have also been recognised for their work during COVID-19, among them, epidemiologist Professor Mary Louise McLaws.
The youngest recipient to be honoured is 23, the oldest is 101.
Mike Sheahan, a familiar name to 3AW Football listeners, is also among those who’ve been recognised.
