RED HOT TIP CONFIRMED

About 70 people have been evacuated after a crane fell on Frankston Hospital.

“A crane has fallen on the inpatient unit,” caller Sally told Neil Mitchell.

Firefighters responded to a “routine call of a fire suppression system activating” at about 10am, and were shocked when they attended and found a crane had smashed through the roof of the mental health unit.

“We’ve been able to work very quickly with hospital staff to keep the hospital operating as normal,” Assistant Chief Fire Officer Greg Christison told Dee Dee.

“Its fair to say that the crane is not moving at the moment, the building is as safe as it can be.”
