Council workers walk off the job in Melbourne’s north following stall in pay negotiations
RED HOT TIP:
Negotiations between the lowest paid staff and executives at Whittlesea Council have stalled resulting in “band three” staff walking off their jobs.
Joel, a parks worker and union delegate says some staff have essentially gone down a pay-grade during the cost of living crisis.

“As long as it takes at the moment, the executives have essentially closed the channel and they’re hoping they can kinda trudge through this,” he told Neil Mitchell.
He also says they’ve walked off the job two weeks ago and the council have brought in private contractors.
