Council in Melbourne’s east plans posh Christmas party outside municipality
An eastern suburbs council is being questioned over its explanation for not holding its Christmas party inside the council area.
As reported in Leader Newspapers, Monash Council is hosting its staff Christmas party at Sails on the Bay in Elwood, at a cost of $100 of ratepayer’s money per head.
When asked by Tom Elliott why council didn’t have its party at a Monash establishment, Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris said the criticism was “unfair”.

“It would be such a hard decision to pick one of those restaurants and favour one over the other,” he said.
“I think it’s a bit unfair to be criticised for something which is a moment of celebration.”
