Driver slapped with 16 charges after driving into police officer
A man has been slapped with 16 charges after a police officer was hit by a vehicle at Wantirna South last night.
Police arrived at Seban Court about 8pm amid reports a vehicle had smashed into a parked car.
The driver hit the officer, a senior constable, while fleeing the scene.
The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene.
An Upper Ferntree Gully man, 37, was arrested in Frankston a short time later after a search that included the dog squad.
He has been charged with 16 offences relating to the incident, including aggravated driving in the vicinity of an emergency worker, conduct endangering Life, two, recklessly causing injury, assaulting police and resisting arrest.
He also faces bail and traffic-related and offences.
