Confronting CCTV released in hope of tracking down man behind city stabbing
Police have released confronting CCTV of a man stumbling and staggering after he was stabbed and assaulted along Birrarung Marr.
It’s hoped releasing the footage will help find the perpetrator.
Police have been told the man was walking along Birrarung Marr near Batman Avenue when he was involved in an altercation and assaulted by an unknown person about 4am last Friday.
It is believed the man, aged in his 60s, then stumbled to Batman Avenue where he was found by a passer-by about 7.30am.
He was then taken to hospital.
The Avondale Heights man received serious head injuries and a stab wound to the upper body and will remain in hospital for some time.
Detectives have released a composite image of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries and a bag, which is similar to what this man was carrying at the time of the assault.
