Confirmed: Pet snake found in Victorian prison cell

Corrections Victoria has confirmed an inmate at Fulham Prison was found keeping a deadly snake as a pet in his cell late last year. 

A caller to 3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File told Ross and John prisoner officers were conducting a routine cell search and came across a moving box. The prisoner then mentioned his ‘pet snake’ had been trying to bite him all night. 

The juvenile brown snake was reportedly found in the exercise yard.
