Concerns raised over proposed Melbourne Airport expansion

Residents in Melbourne’s north-west say they feel “misled” after Melbourne Airport released a proposal for a third runway.

They’re urging authorities to explore other options, such as expanding Avalon instead.

Keilor resident Hannah Robertson is from the Melbourne Airport Community Action Group and residents had long been assured there was nothing to worry about.

“Obviously that was naïve of us,” she said.

“This is the story that plays out again and again.

“Residents do their due diligence and then end up feeling badly misled.”

She said the group wanted “all options” explored.

“It’s simply not true that it has to be Melbourne Airport,” she said.
