Tony Shaw has questioned the effort of Collingwood’s players, urging coach Craig McRae to ‘take control’ as their premiership defence slips away.

The Pies are two games out of the top eight following their heavy defeat to Hawthorn on Saturday.

Club great Tony Shaw told 3AW Football that they have forgotten how to win crucial contests, saying they have lost their “little edge” which proved so successful in 2023.

“For me the leash is too long (with the playing group),” he said on 3AW.

“I think (Craig McRae) needs to pull the reins in a little bit and take control.”
