Cloke capable of another good season: Shaw
Despite Collingwood losing ‘a favourite son’ today with Travis Cloke’s request to leave the Pies, club legend Tony Shaw says it’s something the football public needs to get used to.
Cloke played his 246th and final game for Collingwood on Sunday afternoon, but is looking to move elsewhere next season.
The Western Bulldogs, Richmond and North Melbourne have all been linked to the key forward.
Shaw believes a team who moves the ball quickly to their forward line would suit his style of play. If he finds a club with that asset, Shaw says Cloke has another good year in him.
‘I think he’s got a good year left in a good side that might be on the verge,’ Shaw told Sports Today.
‘He works hard, he’s a great kid.’
Shaw also says a move from Collingwood could be the best thing for both the club and Travis Cloke.
Cloke will be added to list of 2010 Collingwood Premiership players to leave the club, along with the likes of Dale Thomas, Heath Shaw and Dayne Beams.
However Tony Shaw says he will be welcomed back to Collingwood after his playing career is over.
‘He’s been a great servant for the club, he’s going to always come back as a favourite son, as a premiership player.’
