The situation in New Caledonia have worsened as Australians trapped have run out of food.

Woodend local, Max Winchester and his wife have been stuck in a resort for a week and says there’s a civil war taking place as people go without food and other necessities.

“Bombs are being set off, buildings, the town near us, the mayor has said don’t come into town, we can’t guarantee your safety,” he told Tom Elliott.

He also says they’ve received no help from DFAT or authorities.

“People are now running out of medication and the consulate’s response is ‘Well go down to the chemist and get a prescription’, well most of the chemists are burned down as well,” he added.
