The City of Yarra is being accused of being complicit in vandalism, as the council considers permanently removing the memorial to Captain Cook in the Edinburgh Gardens, due to repeated vandalism.

Yarra Residents Collective Spokesperson, Adam Promnitz, says the council can be “highly irrational” and would be endorsing criminals by removing the monument.

“If you’re going to let vandals and criminals win, then you might as well give up altogether,” Mr Promnitz told Ross and Russel.
