Retired Victoria Police Detective and Senior Sergeant from the Homicide Squad, Charlie Bezzina, has delivered a strong statement towards the Allan government following the new laws announced to crack down on protests.

Premier Jacinta Allan has announced that any protesters who wear masks, display terrorist symbols or carry glue, locks and ropes during future protests will be arrested.

“Realistically the legislation already exists,” Bezzina told Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen on 3AW Breakfast.

Press PLAY to hear his strong words for the Allan government

“I really don’t know why Jacinta Allan is dodging this permit system,” he said.

The retired detective also thinks the courts need to be stronger, with strong penalties for offenders and protesters who cause trouble.

“Why should the good people of this state going about their lawful business be stopped in the streets?” he said.
