Chapel Street nightclub ablaze after overnight arson
Chapel Street has been shut in both directions after a suspicious fire broken out at a nightclub overnight.
The LUX nightclub was set ablaze at around 1:45am, with callers to 3AW reporting seeing multiple people in balaclavas shortly before the attack.
3AW Breakfast’s Ross Stevenson reported that the alleged offenders jumped out of a car and threw petrol in the two-story building, setting it ablaze.

Acting Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mitch Simons had the latest from the scene, saying the building was significantly damaged as a result of the blaze.
“It’s a complete rebuild (of the building),” he told Ross and Ross.
“Fire engulfed the whole area of the nightclub and through the roof.”
