The CFMEU has come out swinging with a new statement, saying the Albanese government has “opened the gates of hell” by taking the construction union on.

In the explosive statement, CFMEU QLD/NT secretary Michael Ravbar says Albanese has “panicked and soiled himself” following Nick McKenzie’s reports of bullying and links to the underworld.

Nine News political reporter Charles Croucher told 3AW Drive the statement doesn’t represent the union more general view of the Anthony Albanese and the Labor government.

“This doesn’t seem to be the sentiment of the union movement in general,” Mr Croucher said on 3AW.

“But it’s clear something needed to change.”
